Rome: A Tribute to Memory and Essence

Verónica Mar.

In the heart of a garden designed by landscape designer Fernando Pozuelo, three imposing monumental sculptures stand as silent guardians of a space that transcends the earthly. These works, conceived by artist Veronica Mar, are much more than just decorative pieces: they are a poetic and spiritual homage to the immortal essence of Roma, a little dog whose memory remains alive in every corner of the place.

Under the names Roma Past, Roma Present and Roma Future, these sculptures tell a story of love, serenity and protection. Each piece captures a different aspect of Rome’s energy. In the past, we find the nostalgia of shared memories; in the present, the strength of its still palpable presence; and in the future, the promise of an eternal legacy. The cast aluminum, treated with a pure white lacquer exterior paint, gives the sculptures a purity and spirituality that stands out in the natural environment of the garden. This finish not only reinforces the durability of the pieces, but also enhances the sense of calm and balance. Ranging in size from colossal to delicate, each sculpture dialogues with the landscape in a unique way. Roma Past, at six meters long, extends like a memory that envelops the space; Roma Present, with its monumental height, stands as a beacon of constant presence; and Roma Future, with its compact and contained forms, points towards a horizon full of hope. These pieces transform the garden into a sanctuary of reflection and peace, a place where time seems to stand still and memory intertwines with eternal love. For those who inhabit this space, “Roma” is not only a set of sculptures, but a living testimony of how art can preserve the essence of what we love.
