El mundo

Carlos Aires.

El Mundo is Carlos Aires first solo exhibition at Sabrina Amrani Gallery. His work is characterized by a series of brass sculptures and props that occupy the gallery space. These sculptures have been created using the traditional lost wax casting technique and are digitally manipulated classical fragments, such as Hercules Farnese, Aphrodite of Cnidus, or Michelangelo’s David. The resulting pieces, which feature clean and violent cuts, evoke a sense of rupture and completion, questioning the permanence and traditional values of art. The brass sculptures stand out for their technical mastery and their role within the installation. They are strategically placed between struts that support ceilings, floors and walls. These supports act as a dual figure between destruction and reconstruction. Carlos Aires, achieves a fusion between the classical past and contemporary technology, materializing digital files in these historical works. In addition, this artistic conception maintains metal props engraved with phrases from autobiographical songs. Photographs courtesy of the gallery Sabrina Amrani and Juan Rayos.
